GAV compliance in codeto report

The collective labour agreement of the Swiss electrical industry (GAV) sets requirements for time recording, supplements, absences and expense reimbursement. This chapter shows which of those requirements can be mapped in codeto report, how they are configured and where limits remain today.

What this chapter covers, and what it does not

This chapter explains the configuration in codeto report, not the GAV itself. The GAV text and the directives of the Paritätische Landeskommission (PLK) always take precedence. For legal questions in individual cases, consult the PLK or the responsible regional joint commission.

Official sources: EIT.swiss and PLK Elektro

The chapter concerns all roles: employees encounter the GAV rules when recording time, project leads and supervisors when checking, admins when configuring. Configuration itself requires admin rights, the rules apply to everyone.

State of coverage

The table shows how far individual GAV requirements are implemented in codeto report today.

StatusMeaning
CoveredCan be configured completely and runs automatically afterwards.
PartlyBasic function available, individual aspects are missing or need a workaround.
Manual upkeepCan be mapped, but with recurring effort.
In progressNot available yet, under development.
Not coveredNot represented today and has to be tracked outside codeto report.
Out of scopeNot part of the functional scope, belongs in payroll or ERP.

Open points

Three points are not covered in a GAV-compliant way today:

  • Excess time above 50 hours per week does not trigger an automatic 25 % supplement. We are working on it. Until then the supplement has to be determined outside codeto report.
  • Vorholzeit is not represented. The separate reporting against overtime required by Art. 26.3 is therefore not possible.
  • The rayon rule cannot be stored as a distance. It can be mapped through additions, but requires a maintained project list.

All three points are described in detail on the respective topic pages.

Where configuration happens

GAV-relevant settings are spread across several areas:

AreaWhat is configured there
Branch office settingsPublic holidays, standard working hours, absence types
Report additionsProject-related supplements, for example night and Saturday supplements
General additionsPerson- and contract-related allowances, for example the lunch allowance
Employee contractTarget hours, overtime handling, workload

Getting started

New to the topic? This order has proven useful:

  1. Check Working time and target hours, they are the basis for all further calculations.
  2. Set up Absences and public holidays, they directly affect the target time.
  3. Configure supplements as soon as night, Saturday or Sunday work occurs.
  4. Clarify Travel time and expenses when working on sites away from the company domicile.
  5. Note Overtime, excess time and vorholzeit at year end and at the turn of the year.

How the rules take effect in day-to-day recording, that is warnings, errors and minimum breaks, is described under Rule checks.
